digiChart, Inc. and PeriGen, Inc. offer first combined system fully connecting OB-GYN continuum of care

Integrated technology solution will allow OB-GYN physicians to manage patients across all settings and stages of obstetrical care – antepartum to delivery to postpartum

For Immediate Release

Nashville, TN. - May 17, 2010 - digiChart, Inc. and PeriGen, Inc. today announced a partnership agreement extending digiChart’s award-winning electronic health record—digiChart OB-GYN—to those clinics affiliated with PeriGen’s client hospitals. The companies are developing a pioneering, integrated technology solution which will stream the patient’s OB-GYN medical data directly to the hospital’s clinical decision support system, PeriBirth®. The integration of digiChart’s electronic health record (EHR) with the PeriBirth system enables real-time patient management and documentation—dramatically reducing patient risks and improving the quality of care.

“This relationship positions two strong and rapidly growing companies to carry out their shared mission of improving women’s healthcare through OB-GYN-specific technology,” said digiChart President & CEO, Dr. G. William Bates. “digiChart and PeriGen’s true end-to-end system will lead the way in linking physicians’ offices with the hospitals’ labor and delivery units across the country.”

Donald A. Deieso, Ph.D., Chairman and CEO of PeriGen added: “Today, when many women arrive at the hospital to deliver their babies, their prenatal medical information is not available to guide clinicians in delivering the most effective care. PeriGen and digiChart agree that it shouldn’t—and doesn’t—have to be this way. We want to provide OB-GYNs with supporting technology and updated data to care for every woman from the moment a pregnancy is confirmed through delivery and back to the office for postpartum evaluation. We have joined our solutions in order to help hospital- and office-based physicians and their staffs provide the highest level of care while decreasing complications.”

Under the terms of the agreement, PeriGen is licensed to sell digiChart OB-GYN, an award-winning, specialty-specific EHR, to its hospital-affiliated and employed-physician clinics. Later this year, the two companies will launch an integrated offering which spans ambulatory and labor and delivery settings.
